SINTEF is one of Europe's largest independent research organisations. Every year the organization carries out several thousand projects for both small and large customers. SINTEF TTO is SINTEF's wholly-owned commercialization company and has corporate responsibility to run this process together with management in the business areas.

How much do they invest?

About 80 new technologies have been commercialised through spinn-offs or licensing in the last ten years. Spin-off companies from SINTEF generated as combines revenue of nearly four billion Norwegian kroner in 2015

SINTEF TTO has an annual average of approximately 50 proposals for commercialization projects. About half of these are brought forward to commercialization. TTO cooperates actively with other players in and outside Norway with both idea development and commercialization.

At least 50% of the fund's investments are foreseen to be directed towards innovations that have a positive environmental impact. They hope that realizing ideas from the technology community will lay the basis for healthy and viable businesses, thereby contributing to knowledge-based jobs and regional value creation.
