More about Norinnova Technology Transfer (NTT)

As a Technology Transfer office they act on behalf of their partners, namely The Arctic University of Norway, University Hospital of Northern Norway and NORUT. You will need to do research, work or be a student in one of these institutions to present your idea.

Experience

NTT’s goal is to assist with business development and strengthen the existing industry in Northern Norway. Since 1993 they have been involved in the creation of more than 80 companies, which has resulted in 550 high technology jobs in the region.

How much do they invest?

Together with the researcher they develop a project strategy that includes the necessary steps needed to bring your idea to the market. This includes:

 • Filing patents (IPR) if necessary
 • Applying for external funding in cooperation with you as the researcher
 • Doing market analysis and making early business models
 • Finding direction and goals

They also provide workshops and a large network. In case of start-up companies, they stay involved until the company has sufficient competence and capital to manage on its own.

How do they work?

You can either get in touch with them by calling or just sending them an e-mail or just fill out the disclosure of inventions directly (https://uit.no/om/enhet/artikkel?p_document_id=119387&p_dimension_id=88199). After the meeting, they conduct their own commercial assessment of the idea. The typical questions that need to be answered are; clarification of ownership rights, level of uniqueness, definition product/service, market need, competition, and patentability.

This makes a difference to them

For many of our projects POC-data is required to de-risk the business case in order to attract private capital. POC often relates prototype performance and production. We will help you in the process of obtaining these POC funds.
