Investo Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm based in Denmark. Their team has for more than two decades been actively involved in Nordic venture and private equity, actively helping entrepreneurs turn bold ideas into transformative businesses. They look for technology companies including ICT, cleantech, industry 4.0 (e.g. big data, internet of things, technology for automated/enhanced production etc.) and medtech. Companies may sell technology or solutions / services based on technology. Companies are typically seed or early-stage at the time of investment.

Experience

Investo Capital is a new fund founded in 2018 and backed by cornerstone investors HEARTLAND A/S and Novi Innovation A/S. The team has been active in Nordic private equity during more than 15 years with a substantial track record in early-stage investments. The team members have all been managers of growth companies themselves and have extensive operational experience, strategic capacity and international focus.

How much do they invest?

They typically invest DKK 2-5M initially depending on the stage of the company and up to DKK 10m. Option for further investments by way of co-investments with their fund investors. Also, they work actively to co-invest with other value adding investors.

How do they work?

Following an initial screening for fit, they engage in a thorough analysis with the scope to review the company, the commercial potential and the growth plan. In addition, they design an Owners’ Agenda with founders and other co-investor in order to ensure alignment and proper governance between owners, the board and the management. During the evaluation, they often include technology or industry professionals to take part in the discussion. Following a decision to invest, they act as an active owner, with representation of the board of the company.

Their investment criteria include team and competitiveness of the company, growth potential and structure of the market as well as scalability. In addition to these key components in their review, they complement with criteria subject to stage and sector of the company. Lastly, they only invest if they can identify a value-add from their own involvement in the company (in addition to the monetary investment).

Henrik is an entrepreneur by heart. He has been involved in 9 start-ups until now, all of them still in business. Henrik holds a number of positions as Chairman of Board of Directors. Henrik’s network reaches far and he has been involved in business relationships throughout more than 30 countries. Henrik is also the CEO of NOVI A/S and NOVI Innovations A/S.

Jesper Jespersen

Jesper is the senior member of our team and has a huge experience from both European and US markets. Jesper has been counseling start-ups for more than 15 years, and has made some of the most successful scale-ups possible within NOVIs portfolio and also established the innovation incubator Borean Innovation with a current portfolio of approx. 70 Danish companies. Jesper holds a number of Board of Director position, including for example GomSpace Group AB.

Thor Birkmand

Thor has a long experience within Nordic venture capital and private equity. He has been handling portfolios for approximately 20 years and has a long track record of successful investments. In addition to Nordic private equity, Thor has 10 years of experience in technology, business development and management, including a position as managing director of IconMedialab, where he built up the Danish operations from scratch.
