Business Angels Syddanmark is the second largest angel network in Denmark and most of their investors are very experienced business people that want to contribute with more than capital. Most of their investors have experience in starting up new companies, scaling, developing and exiting. The network applies stringent admission procedures for new investors ensuring that you will meet active investors with financial and relevant personnel capacities.

How much do they invest?

In most investment cases between DKK 0.5 and 3.0 million are invested in the first angel round – often by a consortium of investors with a lead angel. However, much larger investments are noticed from time to time.

How do they work?

Business Angels Syddanmark is managed by a Board elected by the general assembly and a business manager – the latter performs the screening and ensures that the pitches are on target. The Board has the casting vote on which companies finally are invited for pitch at their 4-6 yearly investor gatherings. They normally have 5-6 companies on stage at each gathering. Part of the screening is to ensure that the business projection and pre-money valuations are realistic.

Secondly, their investors are emphasizing a scalable business with a healthy growth potential and with a clear exit-route 3-5 years ahead. The business plan and pitch needs to be very well prepared and very sharp on customer pain solved and competitive advantage. Lastly but not least, their investors want to contribute more than capital, namely personnel competencies and network.
