BOREAN is a private limited company owned by a group of Danish foundations and innovation communities. It also has the status as being one of the four innovation incubators in Denmark approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. Since the birth of these initiatives in the late nineties, their goal has been to support knowledge-driven entrepreneurs.

How much do they invest?

Up to DKK 6 million in a single startup; maximum DKK 3,5 million in a first round and DKK 2,5 million in a subsequent round. The elements of the investment are loans and equity. BOREAN takes on minimum 30 percent ownership as part of their collaboration.

How do they work?

BOREAN begins by making a first assessment your business idea. If they find it interesting, it is followed by a more thorough analysis of the technological perspectives and commercial potential. This may lead to a positive evaluation. The next step is that BOREAN’s Board of Directors discuss your business plan and decide whether to invest or not.

The final investment requires you to form a new business with BOREAN. Their team will be involved in the strategic management of your startup – typically as board members – during the full development phase.

It sparks BOREAN’s attention, if your idea solves a problem for the customer. Thus you must have a clear image of who your end users are. BOREAN’s team also values that you add something new compared to relevant competitors on the market. When it comes to personal resources, you must be dedicated to your project and display a willingness to deal with risks.

Your business concept + overview of market and customers.
Pipeline of scheduled development activities.
Economy from current stage to operations phase.
