BII offers entrepreneurially-minded researchers or anyone with a research-based idea help to bring interdisciplinary ideas to life and research to market. We offer state-of-the-art facilities and various funding opportunities, as well as partnerships and programs with technical, scientific and commercial experts.

Our main focus is medtech, pharma and biotech. We envision that strong collaborations, a passion for science, and an open mind will foster research-based innovation and viable start-ups. BII does not work for profit but for the benefit of human welfare and society around the globe.

Whether the idea of pursuing entrepreneurship has briefly crossed your mind, or you already have a full business plan for your project, there is a place for you at BII. We have open calls biannually for our programs: Proof of Concept and Preseeds.

The Proof of Concept (PoC) program is for researchers whose next step is to establish their project’s preliminary proof of concept. Only projects intended to lead to the development of new products or applications are eligible for the PoC program.

The PoC program runs over a maximum period of 12 months, and projects are awarded a grant to cover expenses such as patent applications, research activities and development of prototypes for up to DKK 1 mio.

The BII PreSeed program can help support you in taking the next steps. We offer up to 3.5 M DKK in funding to help bring science within therapeutics, bioindustrials or medical technologies out of the lab and into the market.

In addition to financial support, the team will be expected to engage with BII. This will include project update meetings and also support around the commercial development of the project. This could include business development, market analysis and investor introductions.
