Salary Unpaid

Join DanSTAR: Your Gateway to Rocket Science!

Looking for a Hands-On Role in Rocketry?

Hey there, rocket enthusiast!

Are you looking to get some real hands-on experience in assembling and testing rocket propulsion systems? Want to be part of an exciting student-run project that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in rocketry? Then we want YOU to join DanSTAR as an Assembly and Test Engineer on our Propulsion team. Limited experience? Don’t worry! We value curiosity and a willingness to learn above all.

What You'll Be Doing:

As an Assembly and Test Engineer, you’ll be in the thick of it, helping to assemble propulsion systems for both our test stands and rocket, Fornax.

Some of the things you'll get your hands on include:

  • Assembly: Help put together propulsion systems for our rocket projects.

  • Testing: Run reliability and performance tests on our propulsion systems.

  • Innovation: Be part of our R&D initiative, helping develop and implement new solutions.

  • Collaboration: Work side by side with your fellow team members to integrate and test propulsion systems.

  • Documentation: Keep track of test procedures and results, and report any issues.

  • Safety First: Ensure all work follows safety protocols and standards.

  • Teamwork: Contribute your ideas and expertise in team meetings to help shape the future of DanSTAR’s missions.

About DanSTAR:

We are a student run organization, based at DTUs (Technical University of Denmark) Skylab - consisting of students from across universities (ITU, DTU, CBS). We are dedicated to teaching ourselves real-life rocket science – something you won't find anywhere else in Denmark! From financial bookkeeping to technical decisions, everything is handled by our members. We're pushing the boundaries of what's possible in a student association, aiming to reach further and higher into the sky.

Our Mission:

We're on a mission to build a small, scalable bi-liquid rocket (Fornax) capable of completing a full flight event, including recovery. This project is about building DanSTAR's infrastructure, knowledge, and skills for even larger future undertakings. Fornax is projected to launch during the summer of 2025 in Portugal in the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC).

What We're Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in engineering (mechanical, chemical, manufacturing, design & innovation, etc.).

  • Ability and willingness to work well in a team – collaboration is key!

  • Passion for rocketry and aerospace engineering – you’ll be surrounded by people who live and breathe this stuff.

  • Independence: You'll be expected to work independently on your tasks, but don't worry – at DanSTAR we learn together and work as a team, so you’ll always have a great support system.

  • A keen interest in rocket science and a drive to learn and contribute.

  • DanSTAR is a student-run organisation, hence this is a volunteer position. We expect a time commitment of about 9 hrs/week – and sometimes more when testing gets intense. Willingness to put in the effort is key.

Need more convincing? Here is why you should join:

  • Hands-on experience: Get real-world experience in chemical engineering

  • The freedom to bring your ideas to life and grow professionally in the process.

  • Collaborative environment: Work with a group of passionate students who share your interests.

  • Access to dedicated facilities on campus to work on our projects.

  • The freedom to bring your ideas to life and grow professionally in the process.

  • Be part of a team that builds rockets! Do we need say more?

  • The opportunity to participate in rocketry competitions around the world!

So, if you're ready to take on new challenges, learn a ton, and have a blast doing it, we'd love to have you on board! If you are interested, please fill out the form below with your relevant information.
