Hi there! 👋 My name is Kenneth, and I am the Tech Lead for our core product, or VSM, as we call it. We've been pretty productive lately, and our business has taken off nicely, so I'm looking for four new full-stack engineering colleagues to join our Core Product team, which includes around 10 engineers. As I assume you're here to read about the specifics of the role, I'll spare the chitchat for the interview and get right into the fun stuff! 

Oh, and just so you know, you can work remotely anywhere in Europe or choose a hybrid model and combine remote and on-site work at our lovely office in Espoo, Finland. 🌍

Now, let's see what our current technologies and tools look like:

• React, TypeScript, Redux, and Tailwind on the front-end. We're also migrating parts of our application to Next.js.
• Node.js and TypeScript on the backend.
• PostgreSQL for databases.
• tRPC and REST in our APIs.
• PHP and MySQL for the older parts of our service. We're constantly working on converting our codebase to the new tech stack. More about this later.
• Figma for our design. We have a design team of two, but soon three.
• Tailwind and Storybook. We have a custom component library you'll love (that's what our frontend lead Thomas reminded me to say, anyway).
• Github, Slack, Notion, and Linear for managing our work.
• AWS for the cloud.
• Other modern software. Some of our team members use productivity-boosting tools such as GitHub's Copilot, CleanShot, Grammarly, ChatGPT, Loom, Raycast and Alfred.

In this role, you will

• Design, develop, and implement new product features and enhance our existing functionalities. 
• Ensure service scalability and reliability. You write quality, maintainable, and effective code following best practices and are at home with database design.
• Own your work together with the core product team. We work in small teams and are all responsible for the success of our company. We work closely with other engineers, product owners, and team members.

You'll feel at home if

• You have strong experience building backend services using Node.js and Typescript and solid experience in the overall software development lifecycle, including testing. 
• You have some experience with React, TypeScript, and modern front-end tech.
• You have experience with relational databases, e.g., PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• You have some experience with PHP. As some parts of our system run on PHP, we would greatly appreciate it if you could help contribute to those parts – and migrate to our new architecture.
• You are comfortable working with cloud platforms. We are running on AWS. but experience with any other cloud platform (Google Cloud or Azure) is a plus.
• You are comfortable building RESTful APIs and familiar with using tRPC.
• You know at least the basic DevOps tooling. Tools and principles such as CI, CD, Github actions, Docker, Travis, and AWS CodeDeploy / CodePipeline ring a bell to you.
• You are a good communicator, prefer having high ownership while working in small teams, and are excited to work in a growing company.
• You enjoy working with people in a diverse environment where trust and collaboration are expected from everyone. 

You are based in Europe, ideally in Finland.
