Swap Language is looking for German teachers who love helping internationals learn German. Most people work in companies and need the language to settle down, increase their confidence, and improve everyday communication.

About the position:

You will be teaching internationals in groups (1 - 5 learners) where speaking practice is the highest priority most of the time. The goal is to give the internationals as much speaking time as possible in a safe environment, where we celebrate mistakes and correct them so they can go out into the German streets and feel at home and as part of the population.

Swap Language creates exciting and motivating German lessons, so everyone who learns German gets the best experience and knows the German the locals speak. With our live and on-demand German lessons, the internationals gain the grammar and vocabulary they can use in the follow-up speaking lessons with you.

Your tasks:

• You must hold and plan speaking lessons with internationals in small groups of 1 - 5 people per group. These meetings are online but can also be at the trainees' workplace.

• You prepare for the lessons with lesson material that we have produced.

As a person, you are:

• Patient - You always have the student in focus and give space and time so that the international can practice German.

• Empathetic – you are understanding and good at putting yourself in other people's situations.

• Motivating - you are good at making people feel engaged and motivated to learn German.

• Well-articulated – you can explain complicated things in an easy-to-understand way.

• Creative - You make the teaching as personal as possible to suit each student.

You must have:

• A laptop and a webcam

• A good internet connection

Good skills to have for this position:

• You have an education that allows you to teach German.

• English – you speak and write English at a high level.

• Learned other languages – You have learned a foreign language in addition to English as an adult, so you can more easily familiarize yourself with the student's situation. (Not a requirement, but a bonus).

• Lived abroad: You have lived abroad for more than four months. (Not a requirement, but a bonus).

• Taught in German – Previously taught in German, online or offline.
