About Acter

If we are going to solve some of the most pressing challenges of our time, such as the climate and biodiversity crisis, equality, racism and social justice , we need to become much better at organising ourselves.

Acter is a non-profit organisation, building an open source* tool to support activists and movements across the world, to strengthen collective action, collaboration and coordination.

*What is open-source ?

“Open source is a term that originally referred to open source software (OSS). Open source software is code that is designed to be publicly accessible — anyone can see, modify, and distribute the code as they see fit.”

From Pilot to Scaling

During the last three years we have managed to build a pilot with our users. We have established partnerships with global organisations, built a community of users and expanded our contributor community, consisting of developers, designers and ambassadors.

Recently, we went open source which couldn’t be more exciting - this means we are now ready to take Acter to the next level.

During the last two years we have managed to build a strong community, validate our concept, and establish partnerships that have allowed us to develop a successful MVP. We are now in the process of developing the next version of Acter, and for this we need more developer-power!

Its an advantage to have know-how within:

• Next.js

• Material-UI

• Storybook

• Apollo

• Azure (or other cloud deployment platforms)

• Understanding of visual and UX design principles.
