Acter is a non-profit organisation, building an open source* tool to support activists and movements across the world, to strengthen collective action, collaboration and coordination.

From Pilot to Scaling

During the last three years we have managed to build a pilot with our users. We have established partnerships with global organisations, built a community of users and expanded our contributor community, consisting of developers, designers and ambassadors.

Recently, we went open source which couldn’t be more exciting - this means we are now ready to take Acter to the next level.

For this we need you ! With going open source our contribution community is expanding, now we have the opportunity to provide content that supports our users - this includes taking our written and visual presence to the next level as well.

This role is an excellent opportunity to be part of an international team working cross-functionally. The role offers an opportunity to exercise influence through creating engaging content, to broaden your communicational skills through writing copy for various channels and to learn by getting insight and mentoring from the team.

📹 Requirements

  • You are creative and analytical, constantly working on identifying new opportunities

  • You have good time management skills, including prioritising and scheduling.

  • You have strong communication skills (written and verbally)

  • You have experience managing and developing content for various channels, including : onboarding videos, graphics , FAQ, LinkedIn posts etc

  • You are comfortable facilitating meetings with the community

  • You love interacting with people that you work with and believe that collaboration is necessary in order to communicate in the most effective way with the community

📝 Responsibilities

Building and managing the contributor community:

  • Develop the strategy for the online contributor community, designing outreach and driving initiative from concept to execution

  • Manage and facilitate monthly online dialogues with the contributor community.

  • Develop and Document the online community processes

  • Define and maintain metrics to measure the impact of online community building activities and the social media plan

Create content for external communication:

  • Write clear copy in a consistent tone of voice for various content and channels including sales presentations, LinkedIn, product updates, web etc

  • Use our established brand guidelines for creating visual content

Create documentation for platform users:

  • Plan and execute product tour videos working closely with the design team

Acter is a non profit Association who is building an all in one mobile and desktop app for effective organizing. Encrypted and decentralized. The free and open internet has been co-opted by large players, and it's all too easy for governments, corporations, and other non-aligned actors to spy on people, in particular on organizers and activists. We, the Acter team, are building Acter to enable privacy-first organizing, using strong resource-aware cryptography in familiar user interfaces. We leverage technology to foster new and smarter ways of organising, breaking down silos, creating more transparency, inclusion, engagement, empowerment - and above all, action! Come to join us! Frequently Asked Questions: **Where is Acter located?** Acter is a 100% remote company with employees all around the world. Although we have a desk in Aarhus, Denmark, we all work from home or a workspace of our choice. Our team members are based in Aarhus (DK), Lisbon (PT), Magdeburg (DE), Nairobi (KE), Islamabad (PK), Boston (US), Shenyan (CH), and more. **How is Acter funded?** We have a previous product that is already being used by customers, and it has helped us convince some NGOs to become partners and support our work towards the next major milestone. Some of our partners include ActionAid, CISU, Amnesty International, Greenpeace Nordic, OceanKAN, and NCCDH, to name a few. **How will Acter become financially sustainable?** Our goal is to enable activists to become more effective through the tools we have built. Thus, we want the revenue to come from the same source to ensure we stay on course. In addition to the free-forever version, there will be a more advanced version for larger groups that requires an extra subscription. We are also partnering with NGOs to offer the service in a decentralized manner and they will be paying for that service as well. **What does the application process look like?** We keep it simple and straightforward. We will review the information you have submitted and research additional information we consider relevant. If we like what we see, we will contact you about a video call with the team lead (for tech and product, that would be @Ben(GNUnicorn)), where we will discuss more in-depth how we would like to proceed. **How big is Acter’s team?** We currently a team of 9 people, spread across 7 countries. **How many people do you plan to hire?** We plan to grow the team, but we will do so one person at a time to ensure everyone settles in and becomes effective. Therefore, we will be filling these roles slowly and as needed. Expect that we might be adding 3-4 people by the end of the year (2023).
