The Role

Overview:
To maintain Proofpoint’s global network and server infrastructure, we maintain multiple 24/7, staffed Network Operations Centers (NOC). As a Network Operations Manager, you will be part of an eighteen-member NOC team that monitors, maintains and troubleshoots more than 14,000 servers, 250 network devices, at more than eight locations worldwide. Our goal is to employ investigative and troubleshooting skills to resolve both routine and complex network, computer hardware, and Operating System issues in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining a 99.99% uptime rate for all systems.
Your day-to-day
- Monitoring and troubleshooting Proofpoint's production environments including server, network, DNS, Linux and MS operating system and proprietary software issues
- Working with data center remote hands and paging on-call personnel by following our internal escalation process
- Working trouble tickets effectively and efficiently, while engaging closely with engineering, Support, QA and other operations personnel in accordance with established processes and procedures
- Documenting problem descriptions and providing detailed problem diagnosis with accuracy and compliance with established practices
- Reviewing and where necessary, updating the tracking of problems in trouble-ticketing system
- Assisting with the maintaining of NOC documentation including support guides, knowledge base articles and procedures
- Participating in the transfer of information from one shift to the next
- Managing a local team of approximately eight NOC engineers
- Determining time and resources needed to complete assigned goals
- Training, coaching, and development NOC engineering staff
- Identifying, developing, communicating, and implementing process changes within the NOC
- Enforcing quality standards in documentation and data
What you bring to the team
- Extensive experience in a NOC or similar working environment
- Proven track record of leading teams, ideally in multiple locations
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, initiative and leadership abilities
- Effective analytical, planning, organizational, and documentation skills
- Team player along with the ability to multitask and work in a stand-alone capacity
- Must be able to work in a 24x7 shift environment
- Experience working with Fortune Global 500, highly integrated, multi-vendor ecosystems with NOC to NOC communications
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios preferred)
- Familiarity with trouble ticketing systems (Jira, Bugzilla, etc.)
- Experience in troubleshooting Linux and Windows Server
Desired:
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or what's equivalent in work experience
