The Company

Angoka Limited is a hardware encryption start-up, headquartered in Belfast, Northern Ireland with an office in London. Angoka focuses on managing the cyber security risks inherent in connected and autonomous vehicles, industry 4.0, smart cities and IoT devices. Its pioneering S-CAN product provides a unique hardware-based secure communications protocol for distributed networks. The team has a powerful combination of business expertise and expert knowledge of cyber security, data protection, risk management, and operational resilience in automotive and industrial systems. Koen Gijsbers, former General Manager of NATO, is a Non-Executive Director.

The Role

A new vacancy exists within Angoka for a junior software engineer to join the team at our Belfast Technical Centre. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of different technologies with the responsibility for the application of systems and software engineering methodologies to provide the best solutions to our customers.

This role will report directly to the Head of Embedded Systems and the Chief Engineer and offer the successful candidate the unique opportunity to both contribute during this exciting stage of our development and to partake in the growth journey of a dynamic start-up.

The Candidate

  • Degree qualified in a technical subject, Master of Science or equivalent further degree and Chartered Engineer status are an advantage
  • At least 2-3 years experience in developing embedded software in a commercial, ideally, regulated software development environment
  • Good capability in interfacing embedded software with peripherals at low level (e.g. SPI, I2C, UART, USB) as well as high level (e.g. CAN, TCP/IP)
  • Experience in programming for operating systems such as (Embedded) Linux, Windows
  • Good knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas is required:

                    - ISO26262 as applied to the development of high-integrity software

                    - Automotive technologies, standards and protocols (e.g. CAN, AUTOSAR, OSEK, J1939, ISO 14229) 

                    - Microcontrollers and multi-core architectures

                    - Development tools including compilers, debuggers, network analysis and testing tools

                    - Basic electronics with ability to read schematics and to comfortably use oscilloscopes, logic analysers, Power Supplies and any other hardware-focused test equipment

  • Good organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise and juggle competing tasks
  • Ability to work and communicate well within a small team
