As Staff Data Engineer, you will own the execution work on building, maintaining, and developing our data platform and infrastructure, ensuring consistent and foundational operations for our ability to extract value from data to data products, automation, operational understanding, and reporting.
You will bring your experience, opinions, and principles to the design and building of our data platform - ensuring the foundational aspects of our vision for data at Veo can be realized to enable operational clarity from data and allow future data products.
What will you do:
- Design, build, and maintain the Veo data platform and pipelines from end-to-end, ensuring data accuracy, availability, and quality for data users across Veo
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders like business, software engineers, and analytics engineers to understand data requirements, develop data models, and optimize data pipelines
- Develop and maintain scalable, efficient, and reliable ETL processes using best practices for data ingestion, storage, and processing
- Propagate rapid, stable, and sustainable data engineering practices across teams, including documentation, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
- Work with stakeholders to identify and prioritize analytics requirements
- Proactively monitor data infrastructure, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering practices
What could you bring:
- Proven experience in a similar role at the Senior level or above
- Eager to explore technological concepts, practical in approach, and motivated to take initiative
- A mindset of caring about value created with data for the end users, both internal and external
- Extensive experience with data infrastructure and architecture at scale
- Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably Python
- Fluent in SQL, and you understand the internals of modern data warehouses (ideally BigQuery)
- Comprehensive verbal and written English communication skills
