About Electricity Maps

Electricity Maps is an API platform providing real-time and predictive electricity signals allowing any device to reduce their cost and emissions by informing them about the best time to consume electricity.

We’re, for example, used by Google to change the time and location of their datacenter energy usage, or by Samsung devices in their SmartThings Energy App (read more about our customer stories here). We recently raised €5M to accelerate our growth and are backed by world-class investors with experience from Unity, Zendesk, Datadog, Hugging Face, DocuSign and more.

Note that the role is based in Copenhagen, one of the most live-able cities in the world.

  • Design and produce visual content (illustrations, graphics etc.) for various channels, including the website, social media and pitch decks that enhance the brand identity.
  • Own the UX/UI design of the website, ensuring it aligns with the visual brand and optimizes the website visitor journey.
  • Collaborate with developers to bring your design concepts to life through functional, high-quality web pages.

To be successful in this role, you have…

  • 3-5 years of experience in visual brand or web design, including visual brand strategy and design execution for technical and product-driven companies.
  • the ability to create high-quality illustrations and digital assets that translate complex technical content into easy-to-understand visualizations.
  • UX/UI design experience, including wireframing and website prototyping.
  • strong collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams and excellent communication abilities to give and receive feedback.
  • an eye for quality and detail.
  • proficiency in graphic design software (ideally Figma).
  • experience with Webflow is a plus.

Please share your up-to-date portfolio with your application.

If you don't check all the boxes above but you like the position, please apply because we value experience in many different ways.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The salary for this role is 44500 DKK gross per month
  • Stock options
  • 6 weeks of paid holidays
  • Paid lunch when working from the office
  • Health insurance and insurance covering loss of ability to work
  • Parental leave
  • A huge opportunity for career growth as you’ll help shape a market-defining product.

What’s the interview process like?

It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know each during a short intro talk where we will discuss practicalities, cultural fit/add and answer any first questions you might have. Next steps can vary by role, but will include an interview with a focus on the technical requirements for the role, an interview with a focus on team fit/add and cultural fit/add and a founder interview. Other assessments can be part of the process (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience meetings for other roles). We prioritize transparency and honesty throughout the process.

Working at
Electricity Maps

Electricity Maps provides actionable electricity data for more than 200 regions. We help businesses more effectively reduce their emissions, and enable products and services to differentiate their offerings by empowering end-users to be more carbon-aware. As wind and solar production fluctuate throughout the day, this information needs to be dynamic and updated in real-time. As this real-time information about the physical origin of electricity will be scrutinized and challenged by many parties, the effort has to be collaborative, open, and transparent. This is what motivated the creation of Electricity Maps. It started as a simple real-time data visualization in June 2016 and turned into a comprehensive data platform with high scientific integrity. More than 40,000 people use our app on a daily basis and market leaders like Google and Microsoft, are using our API for extensive projects in order to reach their climate goals and help their users take action against climate change. Our goal: a truly decarbonized electricity system. To get there, we will organize the world's electricity information, and use it to drive the transition toward a truly decarbonized electricity system.
