We're looking for a Unit Process Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in defining and maintaining the fabrication processes for quantum chips, ensuring their reliability and stability. Additionally, you'll be at the forefront of quantum advantage development, enhancing the quality of quantum chips in terms of coherence time, qubit uniformity, and signal routing capabilities.

What will I be doing?

  • Craft experimental designs to optimize and develop one or multiple steps within the quantum chip fabrication process. This includes areas like lithography, thin film deposition, etching, and wet processes.
  • Execute experiments alongside technicians, ensuring meticulous implementation.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the process window, characterize the unit process, and establish out-of-control action plans (OCAPs).
  • Collaborate with equipment engineers to address equipment status, requirements, and concerns.
  • Work closely with metrology engineers to meet the metrology requirements for process development.
  • Engage proactively in our weekly planning and reporting sessions, facilitated by our technical lead and team leaders.
  • Report any incidents or accidents within the cleanroom to the cleanroom manager or, if outside the cleanroom, to the facilities team leader.

What skills do I need?

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in micro/nanofabrication, preferably within the semiconductor industry
  • An advanced degree (PhD or Master's) in physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology, or related fields
  • Profound expertise in one or multiple steps of the quantum chip fabrication process, encompassing lithography, thin film deposition, etching, and wet processes
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Proficiency in semiconductor equipment operations, including Etch, Deposition (Dep), and Lithography.
  • Ability to comprehend the intricate relationships between various tool components and configurations and their impact on the fabrication process.
  • Exceptional technical communication skills, enabling you to convey complex issues and solutions to a non-expert audience.
  • The ability to independently design experiments from the ground up or optimize existing processes
  • A meticulous approach to implementing experiments to achieve consistent results
  • Strong teamwork skills include adherence to safety protocols, maintaining comprehensive work records, and respecting the contributions of colleagues.

What can I expect from IQM?

  • An excellent opportunity to collaborate on world-class R&D and cutting-edge technology
  • Training and access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and laboratories
  • Opportunity to work with passionate teams on a critical mission
  • Make a real impact on the future of quantum and become part of our success story
  • Growth and progress in an international and fast-growing startup
