Would you like to work with a talented team of engineers and play a pivotal role in advancing our infrastructure capabilities?

We're looking for a customer-focused Senior Engineering Director to lead our Infrastructure Group, which includes our Infrastructure, Developer Experience, Platform Architecture, and Security teams.

Reporting to our CTO, this role is hybrid and based in our HQ in Helsinki, and it will require you to be in the office for at least a few days every week.

We're aiming for someone who can combine great leadership skills with their technical expertise and a desire to get deep into either programming, DevOps, or architectural challenges!

Your day-to-day work and responsibilities include…

Lead and Inspire: Lead, mentor, and inspire teams of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, data engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure this group supports the development of world-class products.

Strategic Vision: Develop and execute a strategic vision for this group, aligning it with company goals and growth objectives. 

Risk and Security Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure the stability and security of our infrastructure and company.

Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership, guiding the team in designing, building, and scaling high-performance solutions in Infrastructure, Developer Experience, and Security.

Innovation: Drive innovation and automation in technologies and processes related to this group, staying at the forefront of industry best practices.

Budget Management: Understanding performance, availability and cost optimization in cloud environments and the ability to balance these requirements when needed.

Technologies you'll be / your team is working with…

• We're multi-cloud with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Azure.
• We use various relational and non-relational database technologies: MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Clickhouse, Trino, and others.
• We use a mix of virtual machines and Kubernetes, and you should be comfortable with Cloud-Native infrastructure.
• This group supports both front-end and back-end development IDEs and processes.
• Our main languages are PHP 8+ (primary), ReactJS (most front-ends), Go and Python (internal tooling).

This position is for you if you have…

• 6+ years of experience as a senior technical leader in a product-focused engineering environment, preferably in a SaaS company or equivalent experience, and especially experience in helping teams design, build, and scale infrastructure for data-intensive applications.
• Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience in running security at scale and ensuring compliance such as SOC2 Type II or ISO 27001 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• An understanding of engineering best practices that can help our development teams excel with the work of the developer experience team.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to align technical initiatives with business goals and the ability to see the big picture from the perspective of our customers.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources effectively.
• Strong experience in a modern Cloud-Native stack.
• Deep understanding of hybrid/multi-cloud challenges and security infrastructure with excellent knowledge of AWS and GCP cloud computing technologies.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, designs, protocols, and security architecture and processes.
• Proven track record of building reliability through automation and well-designed processes.
