Maria 01 has grown to be one of the most relevant startup ecosystem players in the Nordic region. Located in a beautiful old hospital in central Helsinki, Maria 01 houses over 180 startups, 13 venture capital funds, and other ecosystem supporters, with around 1500 international individual members working full-time on tech and startups. 

Maria 01 is an international community, awarded the Internationalization Price by The President of the Republic of Finland in 2021. Maria 01 operates as a community-driven, not-for-profit organization co-owned by the City of Helsinki, Startup Foundation, and Helsinki Enterprise Agency.

The CEO’s tasks include (but are not limited to):

• Set and lead the company strategy, goals and execution for performance and growth

• Lead and develop the company culture and vision

• Oversee the company's daily operations and business units

• Be responsible for the company's P&L 

• Lead the negotiations related to campus expansion and the operating model

• Actively collaborate with the community, owners, stakeholders, policymakers and media

• Giving support and guidance in service business development

• Actively collaborate with the board of directors

  
  

Great candidates will probably identify most of the following:

• Experience as an entrepreneur or working in a startup, venture capital, corporate venturing or similar

• Very good understanding and network within the Finnish and Nordic startup scene 

• Excellent leadership skills backed up by relevant experience

• Natural presenter with exceptional skills to inspire and motivate people around you

• Proven track record in P&L management and budgeting

• Ability to lead new service creation for corporates, service providers and investors 

• Understanding the importance of diversity, inclusion and equality in company/community culture

• Experience in working with the board of directors 

• Knowledge about real-estate is a plus

• Fluency in English and Finnish. The official language of the Maria 01 Community is English and Finnish is required due to the administrative nature of the role (additional languages are considered a plus).
