Frontend Developer

Salary Competitive

We’re looking for a Frontend Developer to join our team in Copenhagen and help us build the next generation platform for our +185,000 researchers. It offers core business services for publishers, institutions, funders, and researchers. Our mission is to promote Open Science and maximize automation to let researchers focus their time on research. Just like you, they want to avoid and preferably skip time-consuming activities and tedious processes. What does that entail? Well, with us, you don’t have to register what you spend your time!

Who we are

We’re a fast-growing tech company serving customers and users all over the world. Research is fundamental to humanity, and we think of our platform as a critical enabler of future research. We take pride in our tech capabilities and enjoy launching new groundbreaking features. And that’s why we need you!

Founded in 2017, ChronosHub deals with the complex space of research funding, publishing workflows, payments, and output tracking. The ecosystem is highly fragmented and, in many ways, dominated by legacy systems. ChronosHub was designed to challenge the current state and bring new tools and features to life, simplifying the process for everyone involved.

We’re start-up with all it entails – a young environment, flat organizational structure, foosball table, freedom and flexibility, ups and downs, but most importantly, we learn, evolve and so far, succeed.

What will you do?

You will become part of our small and strong tech team driving our digital development projects. As the Frontend Developer, you will be working on developing new features ensuring the scalability and automation of the systems as well as supporting our customers. In cooperation with the team, you will refine, estimate, develop, test, and document the features that we develop for our customers. You will deliver high-quality testable code and drive to keep improving working methods, practices, and processes.

At ChronosHub, you’ll be able to define your own role as you follow your projects all the way from idea to code and launch in production.

We value raw, natural talent much more than having the 'right' degree - in other words, don't be discouraged to apply for this position just because you don't hold a master’s degree.

The skills, we’re looking for, are:

  • At least a few years of professional experience with frontend development

  • A desire to learn is a must

  • Ready to take on challenges, which are sometimes outside of your current skillset

  • Strong understanding of Javascript

  • Experience with building responsive applications with HTML and CSS

  • Experience with CSS preprocessors (preferably SCSS)

  • Able to give and receive feedback

  • Fluent English orally and in writing

Following is an advantage, but not a requirement:

  • Experience with Vue

  • Experience with Typescript

  • Experience with UX and design

Do you see yourself in this position?

If so, you’re obviously good at your job, so we know you have plenty of choices about where to work. Besides the great colleagues, fun environment, and exciting everyday challenges, we offer private health insurance, pension plan, lunch arrangement, 24/7 snack bar, and social events.

Want to know more about benefits, working environment, and your fun colleagues? Check out our career page and learn much more.

We can't wait to hear from you!

Please be advised that this is not a remote position and applicants for employment must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in Denmark and with ChronosHub.

Working at
ChronosHub

Who we are ChronosHub enables authors to select suitable journals for their manuscript submissions by making funding policies and institutional agreements transparent. Through a collaborative approach, ChronosHub streamlines the workflow for institutions, publishers and funders for an effective APC management, OA agreement monitoring, funding policy compliance, repository deposits and OA reporting. Our History In 2014, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced its Open Access Policy to accelerate the impact of its funded research. ChronosHub was built in 2016 to encourage adoption of the policy, reduce complexity, and minimize manual work. While initially built for the Gates Foundation, ChronosHub was re-designed to scale to the broader research community to simplify implementation of publishing policies for research and address the grantees’ concerns about additional workload. ChronosHub takes a collaborative approach to support all scholarly communication stakeholders throughout the publishing process. Since the launch in 2017, ChronosHub is managing over 20 thousand grants and ten thousand OA articles with over $22 million in article processing charges (APCs). What we contribute to Research is fundamental to humanity, but the world of academic publishing is getting more and more complex. Researchers spend up to 35% of their time on administration, funders struggle with compliance management, institutions lack transparency, and publishers are challenged by new business models. The market for research publication is currently being transformed by an increase in Open Access and Open Science, and there are more than eight million researchers eligible for the trillion of dollars granted to research every year, so the potential impact is huge. More than three million journal articles were published in 2019 – that’s 8,000 per day, and $750 million paid in Article Processing Charges (APCs). A number that’s expected to double in the coming years.
