Wind power is seen as an environmentally friendly source of energy and is considered a key component in what has been termed the green shift. However, as demand for wind energy increases, so do the environmental impacts of wind farms themselves. This dilemma has increasingly been in the spotlight.

At Spoor we believe that with modern technology, computer vision and AI we can lower the cost, enable continuous and long-term monitoring, and provide higher accuracy and reproducibility of environmental impact assessments of wind farms, and also build automated prevention systems that operate with a minimal impact to energy production.

As a Senior Research Engineer at Spoor you'll be joining a world-class engineering team to lead our research efforts in developing a system for detecting, tracking and classifying objects in motion (specifically birds) at or near wind farms.

What you’ll do

• Design, lead and execute scientific experiments, leading to publication
• Stay abreast of the latest methods and models in computer vision and AI
• Contribute to the technical culture of the company by defining and maintaining research standards, methods, and best practices
• Take the application of AI in the biodiversity field to the next level!

What you’ll need

• Masters or Phd degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related field
• Experience with productionizing research projects
• Experience using tools such as: Python, C/C++, OpenCV, Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch or similar
• You have strong analytical/mathematical and problem solving skills
• You’re a team player and get things done
