Your role in the Company As a Data Scientist Lead at SameSystem you will become key figure in a crossfunctional forecasting team whose vision it is to continuously deliver the best forecasting within the Workforce Management space. You will work with state-ofthe-art algorithms and build predictive models to generate forecasts, powered by customer and public data, to deliver recommendations on how clients can optimize their workforce schedule.
The right candidate for this role will lead the technical excellence within our data science approach to forecasting and help us become a frontrunner in delivering valuable insights for our customers, based on the same forecasting functionality.
Your responsibilities will be:
Building, scaling, and driving the team of data scientists.
Being a leader, motivator, facilitator and mentor to your team.
Build and maintain models but also participate in the production. It is crucial for us, that the workload is shared amongst the team.
Working on complex causal inference problems and develop best practices to share with your colleagues in the Data Science Team.
Getting to showcase your business and econometrics skills when designing your research approach and delivering data-based insights to product owners and top management at SameSystem.
Throughout, you will be supported by and work alongside our software engineering and data engineering teams as well as the teams Product Manager and UX’er to build features powered by your data science work.
The teams’ responsibilities will be:
Short-term and long-term forecasting of retail and foodservice sales, transaction size, and visitor flows on daily and even hourly level.
Generating recommendations for staffing demands and shift optimization, based on shop and employee characteristics, visitor, and sales dynamics.
Evaluating employee performance and providing business recommendations based on it to create optimization recommendations for our clients work schedule.
To achieve this, the team will be looking at different types of client data such: sales, discounts, absences, foot traffic, returns, activity and event effects, weather influence, other shop or restaurant location characteristics, and much more.
We hope you have:
An MSc or higher in mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or another quantitative field.
At least 3-5 years of post-university experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst or another analytical role
Proficiency in Python, advanced knowledge of SQL, and familiarity with shell scripting.
Hands-on experience with Machine Learning setups & architecture.
Strong ability to understand business requirements.
Strong passion for problem-solving.
Advanced understanding of modelling and hands-on application of predictive modelling, data mining and data manipulation techniques.
Outstanding communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues and are highly proficient in writing and speaking English
Good knowledge of unit and integration testing, version control.
Excitement about getting involved everywhere in the processes involved when building new features.
We wish you have:
Experience with ML lifecycle management (MLOps) to manage and develop the whole ML lifecycle.
Proficiency with modern development tools (Jira, Git, Docker, etc.).
Experience in creating ETL pipelines, data modelling and data warehousing.
Experience working with any major cloud provider (we use AWS).
Experience with XGBoost, Facebook Prophet, other time series forecasting libraries.
Also, you may:
Have experience with SaaS solutions.
Be comfortable with code reviews on both the giving and receiving end.
Have experience from retail or retail-related businesses.
Have experience with Airflow application.
