CREY is building the most accessible non-technical game creation ecosystem in the world. Taking formats traditionally known from professional studios and giving them to the creators in all of us.

We are looking for a Scrum Master to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of teams and the organization.

We are customer-centric by nature, but our agile journey just started a few months ago. This is a unique opportunity for you, as both teams and the organization need help and coaching. In our view, there is no “final” organizational structure, team structure, and there never will be. You will be able to find ways to improve yourself, the teams, and the organization, and drive changes together with the rest of the company.

We are 70+ employees with offices in Budapest and Copenhagen, currently with two Scrum Masters, one in each office. Logistically you will be joining the office in Copenhagen.

Your responsibilities

As a Scrum Master your job is to help people learn and grow in digital product development and agility. You will be considered successful if other people in the company are constantly growing and learning.

When looking at Scrum Master responsibilities, we consider the Scrum Guide as our basis.


Responsibilities in regards of the team
Team efficiency
  • Understanding and improving transparency around the team
  • Facilitating team meetings (for example retrospectives, planning, etc.)
  • Facilitating workshops and brainstorming sessions for the team, if needed
  • Remove impediments and coach the team on removing impediments themselves
  • Drive the effort to increase team efficiency, and bring ideas and knowledge into the team
  • Teach the team proper practices (the SM can’t sit down to code or test but they should be able to explain CI/CD, auto test types, TDD, feature flags, agile testing, etc.)
Oversight of workflow
  • Help the teams manage backlogs and dashboards in Jira (or any software we happen to use)
  • Make sure the teams have appropriate DoDs and that they hold themselves accountable for it
  • Make sure the teams keep their agreed upon artifacts up-do-date (backlog, definition of done, documentations etc.)
Team health
  • Talk to product owners and discipline leads to unblock team members
  • Ensure great team dynamics
  • Keep the team happy (in collaboration with People & Culture)
  • Ensure people are not multitasking and keep context switches to an acceptable level
  • Protect the team from outside interruptions and distractions
  • Resolve conflicts and issues that occur

Responsibilities in regards of the Product Owner

Coach, mentor, teach the product owner in lean/agile practices, techniques and mindset, including

  • Backlog management
  • Prioritization
  • Vision generating
  • Goal setting
  • Empiricism, iterative development
  • Tech debt management

Responsibilities in regards of the Organization
Culture
  • Advocate a culture of continuous improvement and learning
  • Improve accountability by helping leads and product owners in setting goals and milestones
  • Be a champion of our “outside in” approach
  • Be a champion of iterative, incremental development, and agile/lean mindset in general
Organizational improvement
  • Expose organizational issues and drive their solutions
Processes / way of working
  • Be a driver for agile / lean processes, making sure the organization understands what is needed
  • Resolve communication / misalignment issues between different disciplines and teams
  • Discover missing or malfunctional processes and make sure the issues are addressed
  • Promote agile testing, DevOps principles, flow vs. utilization
  • Teach the teams best-practices from tried and true frameworks, like Scrum or Kanban
  • Help the dev teams balance between production, maintenance and technical debt


This role is for you if you...

  • Have at least 3 years of experience working as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach
  • Are proficient in English, both spoken & written
  • Have a good understanding of digital software development, preferably having an IT background
