Stykka is looking for a tech-savvy software engineer, who can be a part of driving our technical development and help us build the digital tools to transform the construction industry. We are in a rapid growth phase and in need of talented people to join our team of trailblazers.
We are a Danish design-driven construction tech startup on a mission to help forward-thinking developers lower the environmental impact. We have crafted design to manufacturing software that allows us to design and manufacture smart interiors, like kitchens, cabinets and space optimised student housing, sustainable, circular and cost-efficient.
We are a digital-first company with tech at the core of everything we do.
To get to where we need to go, we have to completely change the tech stack and supply chain around a pretty archaic industry, putting data in front of the decision-makers, optimizing production, digitizing packing and tracking, and offering end-users the ability to customize their products right up until the point that we produce them.
Making this a reality calls for a team of software engineers with a diversity of skillsets - some of us understanding the industry and the production aspects, some of us making sure our platform is robust, safe, and pleasant to use.
You need to be able to write clean, modular code and understand computational logic - but we don't necessarily care which background gave you those skills. That is to say, it's not important that you have a degree in Computer Science. If you're self-taught, have been to a boot camp, or learned while in another industry, that's cool, apply!
We're a tight team, so we need to be able to communicate, delegate and plan effectively. You'll need to speak up when you see a problem and you'll also need to work with colleagues with different backgrounds and skillsets.
As for languages, C#, C++, Elixir, JS and NodeJS would be ideal - but you'll pick them up on the fly anyway. Our main frontend framework is Vue3, with Tailwind CSS and Vite.
Cloud-wise, we use Google Cloud Platform and all its bits and pieces heavily - Compute VMs, AIM, API Gateway, and Cloud Functions. If you're good with these sorts of things, big plus.
Our platform consists of a few products on various platforms:
The core geometry processing and design work happen in Rhinoceros3D, where we have a plugin written in C#. On top of that, we use an algorithmic editor called Grasshopper for design automation, and we make the whole thing speak to the rest of the stack through an API and a headless instance of Rhino on a Google Cloud Compute instance.
We have a few internal systems in Elixir, Phoenix, and PostgreSQL, where our optimization processes and product data currently live.
We are in the process of migrating everything over to a microservice architecture on Google Cloud, using Cloud Functions, Firestore, Storage, Compute VMs and consolidating languages down to C# and NodeJS on the backend.
Our frontend system is in Vue3 and uses Three.JS, Tailwind CSS, Vite etc.
Finally, we have an iOS app, currently for Lidar scanning of our client's spaces. but expanding out to include various services once our products are installed
We think we've designed a great stack, but it's still early days and you can be influential in the ultimate design.
Be part of decision-making on other aspects of the company - if the technical solution is becoming too complex, there's a good chance we need to sit down and look at the business processes instead.
Lead your own projects as they develop - prototype something cool, then organize a team to build it for scale.
Plan your own schedule - if you're getting your good work done, then it doesn't really matter when it happens, although we do like to overlap for at least a few hours per day.
