We are looking for two entrepreneurial Co-founders to take Fairytalez to the next level, one with a marketing/business background and one with a digital product background. We would expect one of the roles to be CEO.
About Fairytalez
Fairytalez.com was launched in 2015 and today we have the world’s largest collection of fairy tales. The collection (4,000+) includes all the classic stories from the likes of Brothers Grimm and H.C. Andersen, local tales from around the world, and a fast- growing category of user-written tales, uploaded on Fairytalez.com. The website has 60,000 monthly visitors, of which roughly half are from the USA. The stories are all available on the site, and some have been made into ebooks and paperbacks.
Recently we soft-launched a new subscription-based audio book app (fairytalez.com/audio) letting the users listen to hundreds of fairy tales and classic novels for a monthly fee. The stories are recorded by our panel of wonderful narrators, and we own the global rights to all the content on the app. We want to grow this service much more onwards, by producing more content, improving the app, and doing partnerships, while starting to market the service for real.
The key audience is kids 5-12 - and their parents. In the US alone there are 33 million kids in that age span. Secondly, we target lovers of fairy tales and fantasy novels of all ages, especially young females.
The team
The team currently consists of a network of people from around the world who are very active, but not full-time employees. The editor and main project manager is based in Cleveland, US. The site is developed in Denmark and Pakistan and designed in Bulgaria. The audio app is made by Pubfront out of Copenhagen. We have a string of fine US-based narrators attached, as well as a great audio engineer, two lovely illustrators and several other freelancers. The team is an equal mix of male and female.
What we are looking for
While the service has been built up nicely over the years, we now want to step up by getting two people fully focused on the product and marketing, and hopefully many more as the service grows. Being the full first time employees in the company we think the label Co-founders should fit well.
Our greatest needs right now are within Marketing and Product development. We have listed some skills we see could be useful in the two roles.
1: Marketing person
User acquisition
App marketing
Branding and social media
Community building
Commercial partnerships
Audience insights
Project management
2: Product person
Digital product development
Funnel optimisation
A/B testing
Feature analysis
Collaboration with developers
Product roadmaps
Project management
One of the roles would need a strong business sense and take on the role as CEO.
Compensation & Location
The company is currently in the midst of securing funding for the next years. Being a mature start-up the salary will be decent, but not massive, there will however be solid ownership stakes,
matching the title as Co-founder. This is a role for people who want to do the start-up journey, but still skip the tedious first years with no products, no users, and no salary ☺
Ideally the candidates are based in Copenhagen, Denmark (current headquarter) or the US (the home of the target audience), but we can be flexible.
Goal
The goal is to take a global/US market leader position within audio book subscriptions – focusing on the fairy tale niche (while making the world a better place ☺).
