TradeBay is a fast-growing start-up empowering farmers worldwide to finally get better paid for their produce and reduce global food waste. We are a well-funded seed-stage company backed by some of the most prominent VCs and Angels, most of which are either founders of unicorns themselves, or backers of unicorns. It's time for us to scale, and we are looking for an incredible CTO to join our journey, join us if you want to make an impact!

What you will do

• We are a start-up in its truest form, meaning it's all hands on deck! You will need to take on both a very practical, hands-on role doing a lot of coding and fast iterations, as well as discuss and pan out the strategical roadmap together with the management team. As the tech team grows, we see the role growing more and more into a "typical" CTO role leading that team. 

• You will work alongside the CEO and COO taking the lead of our vision and strategic development within tech

• Lead TradeBay's tech team where you are expected to manage, develop & expand our engineering team 

• Develop, maintain, & ship features on the TradeBay marketplace

• There is an options program in place as we want you to share our vision and feel it's your baby too as you will have a big part in shaping and developing its success. This is the chance to be an early member of a startup - shaping both our product and company culture. 

  
  

About you

• You're most likely curious about how we can solve our members' problems, taking a creative new approach and bringing tech to this ancient industry

• Experience with React

• Experience full-stack web development (probably 5+ years)

• Happy to work with TypeScript, React & GraphQL.

• Experience scaling a product, preferably in a start-up environment

• Experience managing high output teams

• Pragmatic attitude & result oriented

• Strong programming skills (obviously..)

• Proven record of shipping features

• Understanding of marketplaces is a bonus

We have two parts of TradeBay right now: a public-facing website and an invite-only marketplace web app.

• All code is written in TypeScript both on the frontend & backend

• Next.js using React & Apollo Client

• GraphQL using Hasura & Postgres
