(Note - this role can be based in Copenhagen, Denmark OR Barcelona, Spain)
Abzu is an international group of specialists with many years of experience in high-performance computing, computational neuroscience, bioinformatics, deep learning, mathematics, physics, and business. We’re building something truly new in the Life Science field. In order to help us invent the future, we are looking for a senior UXer.
Description
You will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary Product team in either Copenhagen or Barcelona and play a pivotal role in inventing Abzu’s first core product. You will have sole responsibility over the UX direction and process, working with all manner of stakeholders and customers alike, to help bring about our vision and ensure our approach is the right one.
You’ll be developing the UX for a product, mostly from scratch, in a space where there are very few templates to follow. That may mean working on anything from user research, interactive prototyping, UX testing, iterating, guiding implementation where needed, and whatever else required to achieve the best approach. You’ll need broad experience and interests, a self-starting, entrepreneurial mentality, and the ability to deal with the ambiguity that comes with deep tech product development.
About you
The right candidate has a clear view on how to navigate the above and a desire to work in (mostly) uncharted territory. Preferably you have a strong design school background plus several years experience in core (digital) product design. Alternatively, demonstrable experience in designing novel products with a strong understanding of and skill in the design processes that enable that. Experience designing in a scientific field is a clear plus, but not required. Working in a team distributed across 2 offices entails some travel.
You probably have:
5+ years in a senior UX role
Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, UX, or similar or equivalent work experience
A portfolio or other way of showing examples of your work
We'd love it if...
You are a design generalist. You might tilt more towards one design discipline over another, but you’re familiar with the full range of skills required to design a product, including user research and testing
You have a clear point of view about design and about your work
You’re a fast learner
You thrive in ambiguity and are comfortable with change and context switching
You’re a curious and ambitious good human
You’re able to travel on occasion, if informed in advance
