Responsibilities and work environment

Voima is looking for a Senior DevOps / Infrastructure engineer with a keen eye for automation and exceptional knowledge of the current IT landscape. You enjoy building solutions that ease the other developers' work by automating tasks and building pipelines. You will be mainly working on CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure builds all the way from physical servers, VM's to clusters in Kubernetes. You will be architecting and planning with other developers on how Voima's infrastructure is built and managed in order for it to be maintainable, scalable, resilient and secure. You will be growing the team around you to run production infrastructure in several cloud deployments as well as physical on-premise servers. We offer great growth potential. You will be working in a small team of in-house developers with a range of differing skills. You will be mainly working with small group of developers on your tasks and the work can vary from coding infrastructure and DevOps projects completely independently or creating CI/CD pipelines for other teams to deliver automated testing and development. Our software engineering teams follows the SCRUM method. Our software engineering team enjoys innovating and coming up with new innovative solutions to increase security, ease development or automate processes.

We aim for healthy KPIs to track development: we feel like, for example, measuring work by hours does not reflect developer productivity, nor does the number of closed tickets. It is somewhere in between.

The challenges we face in the infrastructure side vary from scaling of global transaction processing to issues of security, automation, identity management, automatically scaling systems and many others. The goal of DevOps processes is to automate our internal and external infrastructure scaling with minimal system administration.

Tech stack

Our goal is to simplify and reduce as much as possible - we think that long gone are the days of traditional manual system administration. We try to keep the IT debt to a minimum and do things properly the first time, instead of contriving hacky solutions just to meet a deadline. We deeply believe in creating solid infrastructure instead of mountains of code on the development side. We strive to be independent and always critically evaluate if we truly need third-party dependencies in a project. We care deeply about the security of our software and we always evaluate how any solution affects our security posture.
