Senior Front-end Developer
Hi there potential future colleague 👋
We’re currently looking for a new colleague with a passion for front-end work to join our incredibly skilled team. What we are looking for is someone that values producing high quality work and to ship that work early and often to get feedback from customers. So, if you love developing aesthetically pleasing products with high usability satisfaction, then send us your details and let's have a chat. This role entails a high level of responsibility - and an equally large opportunity to learn and excel in your role.
Let us tell you a bit about us. At Pensure we are giving it our all to make the products in the financial sector as modern, timely and relevant as the highly competitive consumer-sector. We are a small but highly effective team building these next generation of solutions, transforming the tedious and manual labour into new, fast, automated and fun experiences. We enjoy drinking good coffee, reading good books together and discussing them, holding company events where we go out bowling or something similar, and always love a good intelligent conversation discussing various viewpoints. We work hard, but do so in a sustainable way because we want to be able to continue to crunch out high quality work in the long run (you can’t sprint a marathon).
To tell you a bit more about what we are looking for in a new colleague. It is important that you love challenging the status quo and thrive in a fast-moving environment with high uncertainty and a lot of experimentation as we are building new unique digital experiences for the financial sector and that requires rapid experimentation and learning. You must be able to communicate; ask questions and reflect on the work you are doing. We are a small team where everyone plays a vital role to the success of the company. It would be perfect if you knew how to push back on design suggestions by giving constructive feedback on technical difficulties in implementation and come with suggestions for improvements. As an example, “This design would take 30 hours to implement but if we change X to Y it could be done in 5 hours”.
About the job. You will be developing, together with the rest of the team, modern frontend applications. We work with web technologies and our products are mostly SPAs, sometimes with heavy business logic in the front-end, so you have to be comfortable working with large front-end projects that implement a lot of business logic. The two main pillars we are currently working with are Vue.js and C# (.NET), but we also have services in Python, Node.js and work with MongoDB, MSSQL, RabbitMQ and other technologies to create a service-oriented architecture that can scale well in the cloud. You need to be comfortable with using version control, diving into the terminal to edit configuration, Object-Orientation and preferably some DDD experience.
We care about diversity even for OS choice, we already have people using Windows, MacOS and Linux in the office.
The TL;DR version in bullet-form for the reader that loves going straight for the dessert 🍰
What we value:
Smart separation of what must be done now vs later.
Clear articulation of your choices and what trade-offs you have made in design and execution.
Listening and asking questions.
You know your way around:
Modern Typescript and Javascript, Web APIs and CSS
SPAs and front-end frameworks (we currently use Vue.js, but we know you can pick this up if you worked with React previously)
Optimising and testing for browser compatibility
Component-based UI structuring promoting re-use of code and components.
Fluid and responsive design of UI. Making the products usable across all screen sizes and pixel densities.
Version control
People say that you are:
Self-driven and ambitious
Always learning and love giving and receiving feedback
Not accepting “that’s just the way it is” as an answer for anything
Can communicate fluently, in both text and speech, in English
Just a really friendly person that they want to hang out with
We provide:
Ability to work remotely (but we prefer you coming into the office for a majority of the time).
A creative environment where you can learn a lot
As much responsibility as you are comfortable with
Lunch is on us
Coffee is on us
Financial compensation is competitive and is negotiated based on skill and (quality) experience.
If all (or most) of this sounds like you then contact us as soon as possible via TheHub for a chat or interview about a future at Pensure.
