WebUs designs and builds the future of how to connect with peers inside and outside organisations. We’re not an intranet, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Yammer, a CRM-system, or LinkedIn. The position

We are looking for our first full-time developer who will have the opportunity to grow to become our CTO as well.

 

We want you to be the main responsible for building the next version of our platform together with our external development agency. Our platform is currently in its first version and being run as a SaaS service, but we’re now with funding rebuilding it from the ground up to create a stellar foundation for the future along with additional innovations. Some high-level architectural choices are noted below, but you will work with our agency to decide on everything else.  The work will pose innovative challenges, including network-visualization and gamification, beyond everything you’d expect to go into a social app.

 

Your focus will very much be on getting stuff done, so you must be eager to produce a lot of great quality code in the beginning. When having demonstrated great coding and project management skills, it is likely you will advance to CTO and have the opportunity to hire your own team.

 

Who we are

You will be part of a team that consists of a full-time Chief Product Officer (a co-founder), a full-time Head of Sales and a part-time CEO (the other co-founder). Right now, we use external developers to speed up the development, so in the beginning you’ll be working closely with these - often doing pair programming. Over time, we’re hiring our own team of developers.

 

Trust and responsibility are at the core of our young company culture, and we set the bar high. We have a very dedicated focus on our business goals. With that said, nothing will happen without the right people and therefore we focus equally on creating an inviting work culture. We have an easy tone and (by our own estimate) very good humor.

 

To begin with, you will primarily work out from our external agency in Copenhagen together with their developers. They’re cool people – almost as cool as you. After a while, we expect you’ll mainly be working from our upcoming office in Copenhagen, but we don’t mind you to be remote once in a while.

What we expect

Our agency’s way of working is heavily inspired by eXtreme Programming. This way, developers get all the necessary context to make the right decisions.

 

Here is a list of our expectations to you:

  • You have experience developing web-based applications in Ruby.

  • You write automatic tests for your applications and understand the importance of reliable software.

  • You have experience with a modern Javascript framework such as React, Vue or Angular.

  • You enjoy finding the right solution with your team. You understand when to make compromises and what brings value to the product.

  • You are comfortable in the terminal.

  • You use a version control system such as Git.

  • You preferably have experience with native mobile apps as well (we use wrapper apps to begin with)

 

These are our preferred stack and frames:

  • Our backend will be in Ruby on Rails.

  • Our frontend will sometimes be backend-generated in Rails with sparks of Javascript. Sometimes, we know we want to do SPA in React.

  • We proudly follow TDD and strive for 100% test coverage. 

  • We work in pairs and do pair-programming by default.

  • We host our apps in Heroku and Azure. Occasionally, we use AWS.

  • We use Github and Github Actions for the CI.
