My name is Kaspar Hansen and I am the CEO and Founder of Excelerate.

I am looking for a full-stack developer for the development team in Excelerate. We have a stable platform, on which we need to implement a set of features, which will be your responsibility. That, of course, requires a set of technical skills, but the most important trait for me is not experience. I am a true believer in that you can come a long way with;

A few words about Excelerate

1 in 5 academics does not have a job 1 year after graduation and 1 in 6 is working in a job they are overqualified for. That's straight-up just not good enough.

Too many bright graduates are not achieving their dreams, but we are here to make it happen. Therefore, we have built a platform where students can list their thesis topic and companies can find the right student group for the perfect thesis collaboration match.

Excelerate is in the early days of the startup journey. We launched our platform in October 2020 and our blog in February 2021.

We have a great marketing team focusing on social media, PR and offline marketing, and we are in total 6 employees.


Our need

We have an urgent need. The Excelerate platform is currently in a 'beta' version, and we have mapped out a set of features to take it from Beta to become a solid version 1. And that is what we would like you to help with. We got a solid staging environment up and running, we got a designed and feature-rich prototype, which we now need to transfer from being a beautiful prototype to a solid version 1.


Tech stack

I know, I know.. you want to know about our tech stack; but just before we get to that, let me just say that we launched October 2020, with a beta platform that can do all the essentials, such as: signup, creation of a thesis, list thesis topics, companies can request a meeting, confirm collaboration and payment. Just to highlight that we are not starting from scratch.

We are using Firebase to handle the data, Vue.js to present that data, GitHub, Digital Ocean, WordPress (for the marketing site) and MailChimp.  

The ideal candidate would be proficient in javascript, preferable vue.js and solid in using GitHub. I get that Firebase and Firestore are relatively new products, so experience with this is just a bonus, but what is important is that you have a solid understanding of how databases work and approach Firebase with an open mind and are willing to learn to master it.

You will be our first developer in the office, but we do work with a remote developer team from time to time. Over time, the dream is to have all the competencies in-house, and you are the first piece in that puzzle.

Does this sound overwhelming? Fear not! Like all employees, partners and founders, you will also get a mentor by your side. The mentor is not a co-worker, but an independent specialist within the field, who is also a great human being!

ALSO, we have an external company that handles DevOps so this will not fall on you, but bonus points if you want to get involved. Whether or not they will remain to do so, is completely up to what we think, together, is the best setup.


Our offering

Let’s get down to business. We are not in a position to splash a whole lot of cash, unfortunately. However, what we can offer is:

  • Flexible working hours, but working from the office most days would be preferred (in non-corona times).

The office language is English and the knowledge of Danish is not required for the position. Anyone who shares a passion for tech and believes in the idea is welcome to apply. This position is non-remote, so you must be a Greater Copenhagen resident. Ideally, you would start asap.


Our requirements

  • Proficient in Javascript - Even better if its vue.js as that is what we use, but I believe the transition from angular and react to vue.js is manageable

  • Solid understanding of databases. We use Google Firestore and Firebase, direct knowledge of the two is not required, but you have to be willing to study them to learn.

  • Solid understanding of GitHub.

  • We are not working 60hours pr week, but we are clocking full time at a fairly high pace, which you will be expected to be able to handle. We set our own deadlines and you will be a part of the decision making team.

  • You have to be unemployed and available for jobpraktik and løntilskud
