Rodinia Generation specializes in ultra-fast automated print-and-cut garment production.
We are looking for a talented backend engineer to work on our operations platform. In this role you will have a unique opportunity to build mission critical software that interfaces with hardware, artificial intelligence and human operators. Your voice and opinions will impact the future of the company and the footprint of an industry.
The operations platform connects human operators to our manufacturing facilities, enabling them to plan, execute and gather feedback from production jobs. It is the glue that holds our operation together.
Building and maintaining the backend of our operations platform.
Innovate and develop our customer facing platform.
Help grow the development team and take on managerial responsibilities.
Be the thought leader of your domain in the company.
Working at Rodinia
We are a small company that will grow. You should want to advance your responsibilities over time and take on leadership.
You will initially be working with a junior developer and a senior data scientist. However, we are currently also hiring for frontend and automation engineering positions.
Work is very pragmatic here. Our combined efforts go into building a strong operation. The stakeholders for your software are next to you, in the office.
We are currently in a very R&D-focused development phase. Our manufacturing site is located inside our office space and we run a very tight loop between idea and execution.
We are a small, mixed bunch. Designers, engineers and more.
We value innovation. There is room for mistake.
Clothing production in the fashion industry accounts for nearly 8% of global CO2 emissions. More than 35% of all garments are produced in China and around one third are discarded before they even reach a warehouse. The current industry causes unmeasurable human and environmental damage.
Our goal at Rodinia Generation is to change the industry of clothing production. We are a startup that specializes in ultra-fast print-and-cut garment production. Our mission is to make local and sustainable production the cheapest and most reliable manufacturing option for mid-to-high-end fashion brands. Our manufacturing process uses no water, produces no chemical waste and beats all current manufacturing alternatives on speed and environmental footprint. We are building the worlds first competitive alternative to the industrial status-quo of the fashion industry.
Proof of competence (degree/certifications/experience/projects).
Minimum two years of professional software development experience.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience creating micro-services that expose e.g. REST or gRPC endpoints.
Experience with modern cloud deployment and interaction (Kubernetes, Docker).
Experience working in a team with structured planning and communications.
You will be writing many "first lines" of code, so we do not demand you use any specific server side framework. However, expertise with popular frameworks that are easier to hire other developers into is a big plus (e.g. Python or Node based).
Experience with Linux, networking, storage and security. DevOps skills are greatly valued.
Machine interfacing is the responsibility of the automation engineer, but it is a big plus if you have a passion for machinery and hardware engineering. Having worked with software for manufacturing is a huge plus.
Remote candidates will not be considered for this position.
