Blok is a modern real estate agency for residential properties. Our goal at Blok is to provide transparent and cost-efficient service. At the core, we’re a technology company, and we recognize that winning in this market requires us to augment the best real estate agents with the best technology. We are currently operating in Finland and Sweden.


We're looking for a frontend developer to join our product development team. We are a small and fast moving team of 5 developers, and we've built a highly automated platform to take the whole process of selling an apartment online.


As a frontend developer you'd mainly work on our customer acquisition related tasks. Primarily, you'd be working with front end technologies (JS, HTML, CSS), but we also expect you to work slightly on the backend side as well. This position also requires the ability to work in a self-organized manner together with the marketing teams. For our front-end applications, we use mainly React and in general, our stack consists of Python (Django framework) and our databases speak SQL. 


Ideally, you have

  • 2+ years prior experience in software engineering

  • Experience of: one modern Javascript frontend framework such as React as well as HTML, CSS and SEO is a big plus

  • Excellent co-operation skills. We work as a team

  • Can-do attitude and self-directed mentality.

  • Proficiency in English, Finnish and Swedish skills are a big plus

  • A little bit of visual eye and design oriented thinking to do lightweight designing of your own.

What happens next

  • First Interview: Applicants who fill the requirements are invited for an interview. The theme of the first interview is to get to know the applicant in-person and get a clearer understanding of their background and experience.

  • Task handout: Applicants who pass the first interview will receive a take-home programming task to evaluate their skills and approach to a set of problems.

  • Second interview: After reviewing the result of the task we invite select applicants to the second interview. The scope of the second interview is broader and its aim is to determine how the applicant would fit into the company culture and team. This interview typically includes other people from the engineering team and other departments outside engineering.

  • Offer: Applicants who pass all four stages receive a job offer.

What if the home valuation would be done by an algorithm? What if the transaction cost was a bit more reasonable? After taking a leap of faith and founding Blok the service was officially launched in the spring of 2017. The Service Our apartment sales service provides an easy and seamless digital experience for selling and buying an apartment throughout the whole home buying and selling process: - The valuation service estimates the value of your apartment based on advanced algorithms and actual transactions. - The trading platform enables bidding for apartments electronically. - The agent service automates nearly all routine tasks of the real estate agent, making the whole process extremely cost-efficient. Our Etsivä service offers an unique way to buyers to find their dream apartment. The service looks for a suitable apartment among all existing apartments in the Helsinki Capital Region and can tell you how many actually exist, how many are sold per year and for what price. You can ask us to contact the owners of those apartments to check if they are interested in buying. Our digital services matched with our stellar customer service team has resulted in a world-class customer happiness which has steadily measured in the 80-90 range on the NPS scale.
