Our client are a leading pioneer in clean air technology. They have developed a completely new technology to remove toxic gas molecules and particulates, and launched hardware products which make use of this technology to solve air quality issues in vehicles and buildings. They are developing a SaaS based sensor and reporting solution focused on smart cities and other urban environments.
This senior design engineer position provides an exceptional opportunity to lead the design work for new and improved products in a dynamic and high growth technology scale-up business.
Reporting to the CTO, you'll take a system perspective, leading design across sub-systems including electrical, electronic and mechanical elements.
The ideal candidate will be excited to bring their experience of design-for-manufacture and PLM to the organisation, and by the broad nature of the role.
You will have the opportunity to gain further responsibility as the company continues their rapid growth.
Responsibilities
Design and development of Air Cleaning and Monitoring products at a system and component level, and to produce detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD Software such as Solidworks
Support R&D, test, validation and manufacturing activities including failure mode effect analysis (FMEA)
Support technical proposals and sales bids to client organisations, working with internal and external colleagues (including suppliers) to deliver updates, design recommendations and trial results
Experience
Minimum 3 years experience in design and development of new and improved complex products for mass productions (essential), ideally products which combine electrical, electronic and mechanical components
Significant experience in product design for manufacture / assembly using commercial CAD software such as Solidworks, Creo, Autodesk etc
Strong 3D CAD proficiency, (demonstrated through your portfolio) particularly in plastic, composite and sheet metal design, and including manufacturing technologies and joint techniques
Experience and knowledge of using a PLM tool (such as Windchill) within a design environment
Knowledge of New Product Development within an ISO 9001 environment
International experience working within a geographically dispersed multidisciplinary team is important
Qualifications and education
Bachelors degree in relevant (electrical, mechanical or electronic) engineering subject
Excellent knowledge and experience in commercial 3D software tools
Experience of working independently and of guiding and mentoring less experienced designers
