We are currently seeking an ambitious and skilled Data Science Intern to support our investment decision and analytics team. The internship will revolve around developing and maintaining methods to forecast product demand for webstores in MXNEY’s portfolio which will inform and impact our overall investment strategies.

MXNEY is a new way of funding e-commerce websites. Unlike traditional lenders, we do not take equity or interest payments for provided capital. Instead, we buy existing inventory upfront and sell it back once an order has been placed by the end consumer, thereby increasing liquidity for online shops if our analysis reveals a match. MXNEY was founded in Denmark back in March 2020. It has subsequently expanded to both Sweden and Norway and has now invested in more than 55 companies.

As a Data Science Intern, you will be an essential part of further developing our sales forecasting and Investment screening processes which lie at the core of our investment decisions and our company’s ultimate growth. Your duties will include:  

• Compiling, streamlining and preparing both internal and publicly available data, 

• Develop, test and validate trend analyses and sales forecasting models for e-commerce shops.

  •  These may include time-series analyses such as ARIMA or exponential smoothing or Machine Learning approaches to forecasting such as Prophet or XGBoost.

Furthermore, you will need to communicate with internal stakeholders to gather relevant insights regarding inputs into the forecasting models. Lastly, you will also have the opportunity to perform ad-hoc operational analysis regarding target group optimization or impact analyses to support new business initiatives. 

The position is a full-time 3-month unpaid internship, but with the opportunity for a paid job afterwards.

You are

You must have studied or had experience in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics or similar. We would like you to have good communication skills and some familiarity with e-commerce and web stores as a whole. You must have experience in processing large datasets and have previous knowledge of time series forecasting methods in the context of business sales as well as a good understanding of Machine Learning approaches relevant for sales forecasting. It is also required that you have significant programming skills (Python, SQL). Finally, you will need an exceptional command of excel or similar spreadsheet programs.
