Senior backend developer for the world’s best recognition engine

Salary Competitive
Subaio gives you control of your subscriptions. In a world where you can get everything from music and film to coffee capsules and even bicycles as a subscription, we need to give customers an overview of their recurring spending. We must give consumers back control of their own finances. This is what we do at Subaio. We’re on a mission of giving consumers a full overview of their subscriptions and making it just as easy to subscribe as it is to unsubscribe – with just a click of a button!

We’re looking for like minded souls that want to join us on this mission. We’re a well-funded fintech with over 25 employees growing fast and getting customers even faster. We’re already live with some of the biggest banks in the Nordics serving millions of uses. We’re looking for a senior backend developer to join our rocket ship for the next phase, where we will expand our operations to partners outside of the Nordics.

As a senior developer you will have the responsibility of building the best subscription recognition engine in the world. We already have a best in class product, but as we expand into new markets and new products we need to stay ahead in the game. That’s where you come in! You love working with data – finding patterns, finding ways of filtering out the noise, and developing code that does all of this automatically and at scale.

In short this is what you’ll be doing:

  • Implement algorithms for analytics on massive data sets

  • Cleansing data, pre-processing and integration

  • Automate internal processes for doing data enrichment

  • Service orchestration and process automation

We expect that you have very strong data- and development skills. We’re looking for profiles that have deep knowledge and experience with Java. We also expect that you have worked with algorithms and know how to apply such to real-world problems. The most important is however that you have the skills that go into implementing algorithms at scale, measuring the impact and constantly optimizing the process.

In short this is what we expect from you:

  • Flair for developing data insights

  • Strong Java qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of algorithms and experience in applying them to real-world problems

  • Some statistical knowledge

You like to evaluate findings using statistics and make both incremental and evolutionary changes.

Your education is not as important as your experience. You can come from a pure developer background, but data scientists or similar are also more than welcome to apply – as long as you have development experience. It is a huge plus if you have had experience with working within a startup and have the entrepreneurial mindset needed in a workday that will be filled with ambiguity. But most importantly you need to be ready to have fun. Because it’s going to be a rollercoaster where the aim is to build the world’s best subscription recognition engine ever!

If you need any further information please reach out to Subaio’s Chief Technical Officer, Brian Jørgensen.

The position is in Aalborg, and application deadline is 30th of November 2020.

Working at
Subaio

Subaio was founded at a hackathon in 2016. Prior to the event one of the founders had found an odd payment on his family’s monthly bank statement. What was this? After some research he found that it was a payment for a US online newspaper he had only used once and then forgot all about. This was the beginning of Subaio – the service that gives you control of your subscriptions. The last five years the subscription economy has grown more than 100% a year according to McKinsey. At the same time more people have a hard time cancelling their subscriptions. 42% to be exact according to creditcards.com. And there’s no indication that this development is going to stop. 35% thus want their bank to deliver a subscription management system in their online bank according to Cicero Consulting.
