If we are going to solve some of the most pressing challenges of our time, we need to become much better at organising ourselves. With Acter, we are on a mission to fundamentally change the way that we work together, by strengthening ecosystems and enable mass participation.

During the last two years we have managed to build a strong community, validate our concept, and establish partnerships that have allowed us to develop a successful prototype.

This means we are now ready to take Acter to the next level - and for this we need you.

We are looking for our new CTO, who is bold, crazy, visionary and skilled enough to build an operating (eco)system that will become the leading platform for coordinating action on global challenges.

What you will do:

Transform the current prototype into a 1.0 version. As the CTO you will be in charge of designing, adapting/developing and implementing both the frontend and backend of our platform.
Participate in client meetings to understand market needs and together with our commercial team identify, develop and deploy features.

Your professional qualifications

You should be comfortable developing both web and native app systems and preferably have a few examples to show
Full stack development knowledge - and a desire to lead this development
Familiar with complex architecture
Able to communicate with team members, co-developers and stakeholders

Your personal qualifications

You are passionate about changing status quo and make a true impact in the world
Not afraid of being ambitious and thinking big
Willingness to go the extra mile and have a can-do attitude

Expectation

We are securing funding to pay salary (start-up range)
If you are the right candidate and find the project interesting we we are more than willing to discuss equity as co-founder.
Currently, we have an office in Aarhus but also work remotely

Acter is a non profit Association who is building an all in one mobile and desktop app for effective organizing. Encrypted and decentralized. The free and open internet has been co-opted by large players, and it's all too easy for governments, corporations, and other non-aligned actors to spy on people, in particular on organizers and activists. We, the Acter team, are building Acter to enable privacy-first organizing, using strong resource-aware cryptography in familiar user interfaces. We leverage technology to foster new and smarter ways of organising, breaking down silos, creating more transparency, inclusion, engagement, empowerment - and above all, action! Come to join us! Frequently Asked Questions: **Where is Acter located?** Acter is a 100% remote company with employees all around the world. Although we have a desk in Aarhus, Denmark, we all work from home or a workspace of our choice. Our team members are based in Aarhus (DK), Lisbon (PT), Magdeburg (DE), Nairobi (KE), Islamabad (PK), Boston (US), Shenyan (CH), and more. **How is Acter funded?** We have a previous product that is already being used by customers, and it has helped us convince some NGOs to become partners and support our work towards the next major milestone. Some of our partners include ActionAid, CISU, Amnesty International, Greenpeace Nordic, OceanKAN, and NCCDH, to name a few. **How will Acter become financially sustainable?** Our goal is to enable activists to become more effective through the tools we have built. Thus, we want the revenue to come from the same source to ensure we stay on course. In addition to the free-forever version, there will be a more advanced version for larger groups that requires an extra subscription. We are also partnering with NGOs to offer the service in a decentralized manner and they will be paying for that service as well. **What does the application process look like?** We keep it simple and straightforward. We will review the information you have submitted and research additional information we consider relevant. If we like what we see, we will contact you about a video call with the team lead (for tech and product, that would be @Ben(GNUnicorn)), where we will discuss more in-depth how we would like to proceed. **How big is Acter’s team?** We currently a team of 9 people, spread across 7 countries. **How many people do you plan to hire?** We plan to grow the team, but we will do so one person at a time to ensure everyone settles in and becomes effective. Therefore, we will be filling these roles slowly and as needed. Expect that we might be adding 3-4 people by the end of the year (2023).
