The Shortcut is looking for its next CEO! We are a talent accelerator. Our mission is to equip talent with the skills and networks they need to become an entrepreneur or work for a high-growth company/startup. Our purpose is to support economic growth by enabling as many people as possible to create a startup or work for one.

General Responsibilities

The CEO of The Shortcut is responsible for leading the organization, overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan. The objective is to develop scalable services and revenue mechanisms to ensure long-term financial sustainability. 

  • Mission and Strategy: works with the Board of Directors and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

  • Operations and Administration: oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are sound.

  • Financial Performance and Viability: develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • People Management: motivates and directs employees in order to optimize the organization’s productivity and support their professional growth.

  • Board Governance: works with the Board of Directors in order to fulfill the organization's mission.

Other key duties include lobbying, fundraising, marketing and community outreach. The CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Professional Qualifications Needed:

  • A seasoned people management leader, with a minimum of 5 years experience in similar positions or C-level senior management.

  • A strongly mission-driven individual with a growth mindset and an entrepreneurial attitude and/or experience; someone who can challenge the status quo.

  • A strategist who can implement: high-level strategic thinking and planning with the ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers, customers and partners. 

  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results. Active fundraising and financial management experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.

  • Previous experience and success in public affairs, lobbying and establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, governmental/public agencies, partner companies.

  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, task facilitation and mentoring.

  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills in English. 

  • Strong PR skills, including public speaking ability.

  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
