Are you our next Forecaster?
Joining the Forecast team as our first DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll work closely alongside our team of talented developers and technical leadership to put in place strategies and processes to ensure Forecast remains robust and stable as we scale and build out. With scalability, security and performance at top of mind, you’ll be critical to our efforts of making Forecast the essential platform for every professional services organisation.
What you’ll do
Working closely with the engineering teams and technical leadership, assess and put in place plans to ensure the Forecast systems can scale whilst maintaining reliability and velocity - you’ll have a real input into the future of the platform
Assess and put in place plans for monitoring systems and measures to protect against outages, particularly in the context of planning out and implementing a global infrastructure with planned international data centre openings
Champion smooth development and release cycles by advocating continuous improvement with defined controls and standards for new technologies and processes across our teams, making sure DevOps approach is at the centre of our engineering practice
Researching and implementing tools to ensure the platform is robust, putting together POCs for new tools and processes across teams
Work as part of our on-call rotation for critical incident resolution
What you’ll ideally have
Experience of implementing DevOps, preferably in a small team that’s early on in their efforts in their DevOps journey where you’ll be comfortable owning and championing the cause
Ability to manage and drive efforts in a relatively autonomous manner - as our first dedicated DevOps Engineer, you’ll be hands on and driving efforts alongside technical leadership
Experience with CI/CD and configuration of CI pipelines
Experience with containerisation and container orchestration technologies such as Docker
Experience with infrastructure scripting as Terraform
Strong understanding of Linux based systems
Cloud service monitoring knowledge (ideally AWS)
APM experience with solutions as Kibana, New Relic
Useful, but not a must
Experience with serverless technologies as AWS Lambda
Experience with message queues
Some security knowledge
Our Tech Stack
We work extensively with AWS services like RDS, ECS, Lambda, EC2, DynamoDB etc so experience with those services is a bonus. We love the idea and benefits of Infrastructure-as-Code and use Terraform and serverless.io a lot at Forecast. We are also using Docker in the CI process where we have some complex build flows that spins up an entire environment on every build to perform integration testing. We are also using Elasticsearch and Kibana for a variety of things such as logging and application performance monitoring.
