Ocean is looking for an exceptionally talented Head of Data Science Research to lead the development of new products in our Copenhagen office.
The foundation of any cutting edge AI is a comprehensive, high-quality and unique dataset. You will have access to one of the world’s largest text corpora of more than 1 billion documents. The current stack currently includes state-of-the-art neural machine translation, distributed vector embeddings, spectral clustering algorithms, several NLP classification models, and a lot of regex work to handle such large amounts of data.
As the Head of Data Science Research, you’ll be responsible for designing and prototyping the CRM of the future with our customers and a team of dedicated data scientists in Denmark and Ukraine.
The ideal candidate is experienced in machine learning, deep learning, and in particularly natural language processing. As this position requires leading the development of new products, so you’ll need to be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative, organisational skills, and accountability.
You must be able to wear multiple hats and take on additional responsibility on our team. You will have to take monthly trips to Ukraine to coordinate and connect with our Ukrainian office (after the COVID situation is under control).
Specific responsibilities include
Ideate with customers and sales managers on what products to build.
Prototype and create new novel products for lead generation and CRM data.
Lead a team of AI/ML engineers.
Coordinate with production and data scientists in Ukraine.
Keeping up to date with new research in Natural Language Processing.
Participate in coding and development of prototypes.
Setting up prototyping infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including GPU instances.
Apply for, and co-supervise industrial PhD students.
Help recruit new AI/ML talent.
What you must bring
Must Haves: 2+ years professional experience shipping high-quality, production-ready code.
Strong computer science foundations, including programming, algorithms & data structures.
Strong mathematical modeling skills, including machine learning, deep learning, probability, statistics, natural language processing, general mathematics.
Experience with Python.
Experience with Linux/UNIX.
Experience in setting up databases and data pipelines.
Experience with working on GPUs.
Proven success manipulating, processing and extracting value from large heterogeneous datasets. Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
Expertise with version control systems, such as Git.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to have in-depth technical discussions with both the engineering team and business people.
Excellent English language skills.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
