CTO - Technical Co-founder

Equity To be negotiated

I am not going to lie, working at a startup means a lot of hard work, for little to no pay, with a 90% chance that the idea you are working on will fail. This being said being a part of a startup team you will experience some of the greatest personal growth that you can ever achieve in a workplace. If you are looking for something more then just a line on your resume then Worthmore is a perfect opportunity for you to use your skills to make an impact at an early-stage startup.

Who are we?

Used phones are extremely valuable. In fact, every year at least 1 billion kroner worth of used phones enter the market in Denmark alone. In our research, we found that most people do not sell or trade-in their devices today for various reasons. However, over 90% of people responded that they would donate the value that their used phone could be sold for, entirely or in part, to philanthropic causes so long as it was easy and transparent. Today, however, there is no platform where this can easily be done. Worthmore aims to fill this gap in the market and be the platform where people and businesses can easily donate all or part of the value of their used technology to support philanthropic actions we all want to see more of.

As a company, we focus heavily on integrating the Nordic values of community, transparency, honesty, authenticity, and simplicity into our mission. This is not typical of our competitors in this space.

By being the company to plan and execute these causes, and showing our users instantly how their device could support them, we believe we can help reduce e-waste while spreading the love.

What do we need?

Working in a startup environment can be stressful, and a massive amount of work for little to no compensation. The upside is that you will be on the ground level of something that has the potential to be huge. We are looking for people who believe in what we are trying to do and want to be able to see their impact on the vision and growth of the project, developing themselves together with the company.

Ideally, you are passionate about programming and excited by the opportunity to build a real product from scratch. You should be self-motivated and have some experience working with React/Node/Javascript based programming. An eye for and the ability to style a responsive design with JSS or SCSS is a huge plus.

Finally, I am looking for someone with whom we could build a company. A person who challenges the team to be our best, and motivates us when the going gets tough. Technical skills are a must, but more important is the ability to be a right-hand man (or woman) on this adventure.

You are a good fit if you ...

  1. Pursue or in possession of a degree from an IT/ Design University

  2. Have some professional experience with FE/BE development

  3. Consider yourself a design thinker/problem solver

  4. You are a master of responsive web design

  5. Are a self-motivated worker who can dedicate a minimum 20 hours a week

  6. Pay attention to details and have high ethical standards for your work (quality-focused)

  7. Have good communication skills (English is a must, Danish a plus)

  8. If you have any start-up experience it's a plus

What can we give to you?

One of the most critical questions we feel most startups forget to ask is what they can do for you. We are asking you to share your talents and skillsets that you have built up over many years to make our lives easier and our brand stronger.

For each person this answer is different, but it is our mission as a small startup to provide value to every team member in a way that is unique to them. We believe if you can give us what we need and we can offer you what you want then we are sure to be a good match professionally.

One cool part about our team is we are very diverse all coming from different backgrounds and pretty balanced male to female ratio.

Our interview is about the team fit

In a startup even more critical than your skillsets is the team fit. That being said, our interview is an informal and relaxed introduction to our team and the project. We grab a coffee or a beer (your choice), then we talk a bit about the idea and listen to your thoughts about it. We will ask you if you have any previous work to show off, and then discuss a bit about what we can do for you. Finally, we will promise to give you a decision within a week.

If what we are doing sounds interesting to you or you have any questions, please give us a call or send an email, I look forward to meeting with you soon :)

Working at
Lokalist

Who we are Each year in Denmark, over 2 million people upgrade their smartphones, but few have a clear idea of what to do with their previous device. Of course, they could sell it or trade it in, but today these options are primarily perceived as a hassle, a scam, or a waste of time. This results in Danes often having two or more smartphones wasting in a dusty drawer. Our mission to reduce this waste and to make the best use of their potential by providing a transparent, fair, and simple way to ensure that our old technology gets used to its fullest extent. The user can then support sustainable causes through our platform with the value of their used phones. Why do we exist? Used phones are extremely valuable. In fact, every year we estimate that at least one billion kroner worth of used phones enters the market in Denmark alone. On top of this, smartphone production has tremendous environmental and social impacts that are seldom talked about. Making the best use of minerals and labor that has already been put into our phones is the least we can do. Through research, we found that most people do not sell or trade-in their devices today for various reasons. However, over 90% of people responded that they would donate the value that their used phone could be sold for, entirely or in part, to philanthropic causes so long as it was easy and transparent. Therefore, not only are the causes we support genuinely good, but they provide the motivation to awaken a large and growing market. Today there is no platform where this can easily be done. Lokalist aims to fill this gap in the market and be the platform where people and businesses can easily donate all or part of the value of their used technology to support sustainable actions we all want to see more of. What happens to the used phones? The used phones we receive are safely wiped, complying with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). They then have a 92% chance to be refurbished or harvested for working components. The semi-new phones are sold in markets across the world to be loved by future users. The phones that cannot be refurbished are responsibly recycled, making sure to reuse minerals that are otherwise impactful to mine. Our values As a company, we focus heavily on integrating the Nordic values of transparency, honesty, community, and simplicity into our mission. This is not typical of our competitors in this space. By being active in the carrying-out of the sustainable causes with our partners, and showing our users instantly how their device could support them, we believe we can help make the best use of our e-waste while spreading the love.
