Compensate's purpose is to prevent climate change and reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. We're looking for an experienced full-stack developer with a focus on the backend to help us enable individuals and businesses to be responsible for their emissions. While doing the legwork in building both the backend and the partner-facing interface with a microservice-based implementation, you would also be involved in envisioning the technical architecture.
About the role
In this role in the growing technical team of Compensate, you will work with the team to define and execute the technical roadmap for the company’s end to end compensation service. You will be involved in developing the vision, but mainly with getting your hands dirty in building both the backend and the partner-facing interface.
Apart from outstanding technical proficiency and a relish for quality code, a snug fit into this role expects a holistic approach to creating services with both businesses and consumers in mind.
What you will be responsible for:
Develop a One Stop Shop for business licensing
Development focused on the backend, but with some responsibilities on the frontend as well
Implementing a microservice-based architecture
Participating in and driving cross-functional, technical conversations to stay in lock-step with product, partnerships, and brand
Proactively anticipate technical risks, implement a system with fault-tolerant capabilities and ensure system stability and scalability
Actively contribute to technology roadmap and define architecture for decisions related to end-to-end product and public interfaces
Requirements
As fullstack as possible, but experience with a wide modern variety of backend (Python/Clojure/Golang/Erlang and the like) and frontend (Javascript/Clojurescript, React, etc) technologies is beneficial
Knowledge of a large variety of database types as we’re going to be making use of most
Utilizing cloud architecture as a tool
Experience building and consuming internal/external APIs
Excellent collaboration skills
You are actively interested in improving engineering practices (TDD, CI, continuous deployment, pair programming, and design/code reviews)
Experience in implementing products/services with 3rd party partners, leading technical teams and interfacing with non-technical teams is considered a plus
A real interest in the Compensate mission
