Embedded software developer for VR/AR audio

Salary Competitive

We are looking for an experienced embedded software developer, with a background in audio signal processing, to join our talented team in porting our spatial audio software to different hardware platforms. This would involve implementing our core technology in various signal processing units, typically found in wireless headphones.

Position as an embedded software developer  at IDUN audio ApS

Who we are

IDUN audio is a fast-growing startup developing virtual- and augmented reality audio software. Our unique spatial audio engine makes it possible to create many moving sound sources around a listener wearing headphones. The sources can be placed in any acoustical space, from a small sound studio to a large concert hall. The listener is free to move to explore the sound, due to tracking devices in the headphones. This advanced embedded software platform can be configured to solve many real-life problems, like communicating in difficult environments, navigation and mapping, interactive teamwork, traffic control, etc.

What you will be working with

We are looking for an experienced embedded software developer, with a background in audio signal processing, to join our talented team in porting our spatial audio software to different hardware platforms. This entails implementing our core technology in various signal processing units, typically found in wireless headphones. It is therefore important that you should have experience with embedded hardware, in order to write efficient code on these target platforms. It is also important that you understand the general audio signal processing architecture in headphones, in order to handle inputs from tracking systems, bluetooth, and apps. The embedded hardware platforms are typically ARM Cortex-A and Cortex-M processors, as well as digital signal processing (DSP) units from Analog Devices, NXP, Cadence Tensilica, Dialog Semiconductor, Qualcomm, etc.

Who you are

You have a proven track record (at least two years) of working with current audio embedded software. You have a masters degree (or a PhD) in computer science, engineering, or something similar that is related to embedded software development. You enjoy working on ambitious goals in a startup with other highly-motivated people. You have a strong sense of responsibility and are able to plan and execute your work according to agreed deliverables. If you have a strong background in porting to ARM Cortex M4/M7 MCUs and particularly have experience with Audio Weaver from DSP Concepts, that would be a big plus!

How to apply

If you are interested in being part of an enthusiastic team of entrepreneurs who are hell-bent on bringing truly useful virtual- and augmented reality to the world, please send your CV and a short application letter to us. Since the job is available at our office in Copenhagen, please only apply if you are able to work full time in Copenhagen.

Working at
IDUN audio

IDUN audio is a Copenhagen-based startup developing spatial audio software for headphones, making them sound 3-dimensional, just like in real life. As humans we can naturally hear where sound is coming from, and how far away things are. But when listening with headphones we cannot use these abilities since all the sound is inside our heads. This is a very unnatural experience, making us tired at the end of the day. We are radically changing this with our breakthrough spatial audio technology using head tracking. With IDUNs technology running in the headphone, listening with headphones becomes as natural as in everyday situations.
