Our journey is backed by a range of Danish and international investors, and we are increasingly facing new opportunities that go beyond the borders of Denmark. We hope to go there with you on board.

If you are looking for a job full of purpose, we are a passionate team of friendly developers, economists, creatives and social scientists who are dedicated to increasing the sustainability of one of the most important and powerful industries on earth. We are looking for a junior data analyst to jour our team.

At Matter, we want you to feel part of our collective journey, sharing ideas and concerns openly and productively, as well as joining our company trips, Friday bars, and other shared activities. We support flexibility, so you’re able to combine working at Matter with the demands of your studies, as well as an interest in horses, or kite surfing or whatever floats your boat. We value thoughtfulness and transparency, as well as vision and innovation, and strive to encourage this in each other, as well as our practices and products.

The role

The position is for a student assistant to support the current tech team in analysing the sustainability of investment portfolios. You will be involved throughout the process, from the data cleaning and initial screening through to the creation of the final report to be delivered to customers (pension companies and asset managers, for example). Given the nature of Matter as a business, you will also need to be flexible and contend with ad hoc tasks which will arise sporadically.

You will be backed up by our team of highly skilled and experienced developers in the hope that you can also add to the team with your own initiatives, idea and experience. This is an opportunity for a student with a quantitative background and knowledge about the financial sector to gain hands-on experience in a growing scale-up utilising exciting technology to increase the sustainability of investments.

Profile

We are looking for someone with a quantitative background that is an advanced user of Microsoft Excel. Further, the student should have a basic knowledge and experience in at least one scripting language, be it STATA, Python, Mathlab, R or similar. Previous experience within the financial sector and knowledge about equity and bond investments, portfolio theory and sustainable investing is also positive. Academic background is flexible, but you will need solid technical skills.

Requirements

This is a technical role, and therefore experience and proficiency in a range of software and data handling techniques is needed for this position:

1. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel

2. Basic knowledge and experience in at least one scripting language -: VBA, Python, STATA, MatLab, R etc.

3. Experience in PowerBI would be a nice add-on, but not a requirement

4. Experienced in creating presentations of data

As a person, we would like to see you take initiative, show meticulous attention to detail and be curious about the people you work with, the industry we work in, and the ups and downs we face together.

Tasks

-          Undertake screenings and analyses of listed equity and fixed income portfolios

-          Develop automated reporting output in PowerBI

-          Structure and clean data from various sources and formats

-          Optimize development and automation processes

-        Experience in working in a rapidly developing scale-up

-        Experience in a fast-growing and impactful sector

-        A solid understanding of sustainable investments and what institutional investors demand

-        A lot of responsibility from early on, if and when you want it – and the opportunity to influence the work you do, as well as our products

-        Excellent office environment (in our own words)

-        Delicious, catered lunch

-        Occasional Friday bars, office dog and kitten visits

Practicalities

-        15-20 hours a week

-        Flexible working days

-        Competitive salary

-        Start date – as soon as possible
