At CHAOS we provide a better understanding of cities’ complexity in an easy and lean way. Our AI-powered urban forecasts enable fact-based decision-making for real estate investment and city development, which leads to the creation of more sustainable cities around the world. By integrating urban data with the data that people produce in their living environment, we produce indexes that allow to measure the performance of cities today and simulate future scenarios.

We aim to enhance the liveability of cities as we help our customers minimize the risk of investments and increase their operational efficiency and measurability.

This requires an extraordinary team capable of delivering a sturdy data architecture, clean software, and elegant user interfaces. So far, the tech part of the team is composed by a Technical lead (back-end), a Data Scientist, a Machine Learning developer, a Front-end developer, a UX/UI designer and soon a Data Engineer.

With overall Machine Learning skills, who is able to:

• Understand business objectives and develop models that help to achieve them, along with metrics to track their progress.

• Analyse ML algorithms that could be used to solve a given problem and ranking them by their success probability.

• Explore and visualise data to gain an understanding of it, then identify differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the model in the real world.

• Verify data quality, and/or ensure it via data cleaning.

• Find available datasets online that could be used for training.

• Define validation strategies.

• Define the pre-processing or feature engineering to be done on a given dataset

• Define data augmentation pipelines

• Train models and tune their hyperparameters

• Analyse the errors of the model and design strategies to overcome them

• Deploy models to production

For which, the desired skills are:

Concretely, for this project, the responsibilities will be the following:

1. Support Index concept creation and validation (minor responsibility, led by Data Scientist):

   a. Obtaining of domain knowledge in the area and define roughly what factors contribute to the specific index. Prestudy and input from customer will support the detailed shaping of the index.

   b.    Researching problem formulation and development of methodology.

    

2. Lead Index predictive models building (lead role & coordination of Data Engineer, Backend, Frontend and Data Scientist)

   a. Data collection and preparation

   b. Model development

   c. Productionalising the model

   d. Implementation and testing

   e. Delivery of forecastable index license

Practicalities:

• This position starts with a 4-6 months trial period on February 2020 and may continue with a permanent contract based on trial period performance (KPIs).

• This position contemplates a growth projection in salary and responsibilities with time. Possible growth into Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist.
