Do you want to work with one of the largest game studios in Norway? Pineleaf Studio consists of artists, developers and entrepreneurs with both broad and deep knowledge of the international gaming industry. If you want to influence the next big Norwegian games, this is your chance. You will be working on the backend architecture of the game DwarfHeim. We are looking for someone who seeks a career in game development and has experience in server and network solutions.

Bachelor or master thesis

In the past, students have written their master thesis or bachelor thesis around the technical aspects of the game. Do not hesitate to contact us if you want to use our game as a basis for your thesis.

Responsibilities

You will be cooperating with a small team, working on a game where you will be responsible for the server setup.

You main tasks will consist of:

• Working on a set of servers, including the game's dedicated server, mainly by:

  • Improving and optimizing code

  • Improving security

  • Implement new features

  • Managing, monitoring and performance maintenance

• Improving and optimizing the networking code

• Improving the game's interactions with the server

• Setting up and manage databases for stats for games and players

We expect you to already know how to create a basic server, but during the project you will cooperate tightly with other developers, expand your competence and gain valuable experience. This is a difficult job and we expect you to be highly motivated.

Required competence

At least a third year student in a M.Sc -or a bachelor in computer science. You have to be able to work in a team and adhere to the teams coding standards. You must have a decent understanding of server-client communications. You must have experience in network coding and .net, and have knowledge about security in networks.
